NRA Basic Pistol

This eight-hour course consists primarily of classroom instruction with some range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. This course is highly recommended for beginning shooters. Total cost for the course is $75.00Click here to register.

In this class you will learn:

  • The NRA Rules For Safe Gun Handling
  • Pistol Parts & Operation
  • Ammunition
  • Cleaning & Maintaining Your Pistol
  • Loading & Unloading Single & Double Action Revolvers & Semiautomatic Pistols
  • Range Rules
  • Shooting From A Bench Rest
  • Shooting Two-Handed Standing

Students will be required to bring the following to class:

  • Cased, UNLOADED single or double action revolver or a semiautomatic pistol
  • 50 (fifty) rounds of ammunition for the handgun that will be used in class
  • Hearing protection, either earplugs or earmuff style
  • Ballistic eyewear (Inexpensive and can be found at sporting goods counters)
  • Baseball cap or hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Water
  • Appropriate clothing for the weather. (Range is outdoors, and we shoot regardless of weather, safety permitting.)

The classroom and range are not within reasonable driving distance of restaurants. Bring a lunch.
